Our school provides high-quality education and care for children and young people aged 4–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). We are committed to creating an environment where every learner feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Working closely with families, carers, and a range of professionals, our dedicated staff team ensures that every pupil’s learning journey is meaningful, personalised, and fulfilling. Through a rich and engaging curriculum, we encourage communication, independence, confidence, and a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom. RIVERWALK STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council held a meeting on 12th February. On the Agenda was the new school Gardening Club. The Club will support the Trust's bio-diversity initiative. The Council members had the very important role of deciding the name and logo for the Club. All Council members were asked to talk to their friends in class to find out which name and logo they liked best so they could attend the meeting and vote on behalf of everyone. Student Council was very excited to welcome our special guest Bradley Smith from Bury Town Council. He has very kindly agreed to support the new Gardening Club and has already come up with lots of ideas, a plan for the new garden area and donated hanging baskets and compost. He is also supporting us with our application to Bury Town Council for a grant to support the garden's development. Gardening Club is being held on Wednesday afternoons and our first job will be to fill, plant and hang the baskets and we are pleased that Bradley is happy to join our first meeting. As the Club will be entering into the Trust's Blooming Marvellous completion and Bury in Bloom they will have a very busy year! The name chosen by Student Council is RIVERWALK ROOTS and its logo is attached.

Gardening Club Kick-Off! Today was our very first Gardening Club session, and what a perfect day for it! The sun was shining and the enthusiasm was blooming just as brightly as the future plants we're going to grow. Everyone got stuck in with big smiles, muddy hands, and plenty of laughs, we even used some power tools! It was brilliant to see everyone working together and having fun outdoors. Here's to many more sunny afternoons, green thumbs, and growing something amazing, both in the garden and as a club! Many thanks again to our local council warden Bradley Smith for your continued support.

What a brilliantly noisy morning we had at school! The Duke of Edinburgh Award journey continues with this wonderful hands-on experience, and what a way to earn their volunteering section – Love Our School and Local Community. There was teamwork, creativity, concentration... and LOTS of enthusiastic hammering! The hall was filled with the sound of banging, laughter, and plenty of proud smiles as the bird boxes began to take shape. Once built, everyone got stuck in decorating them, adding their own creative flair to make each one unique. These fantastic bird boxes will soon be taking pride of place around the school and at our allotment site, helping to encourage local wildlife and brighten up our outdoor spaces. A huge thank you to Bradley from the Council, Michelle from The Crafty Foxes, as well as two fantastic PCSOs that came to help.
We're delighted to offer parts of the Riverwalk School site for community hire outside of school hours! Our facilities are ideal for clubs, training sessions, meetings, and community groups looking for a welcoming and well-maintained space. Wishing all our families and carers a peaceful and restful half-term break Thank you for your continued support this term- it makes a real difference. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead

Celebrating Creativity in Our Kitchen! Today we want to shine a big spotlight on our incredible chef, whose imagination and passion has brought Valentine's Day to life. From her thoughtful details to her delicious flavours, she's turned lunchtime into a celebration of joy, fun, and love for all our students. Thank you Kate and Mel.

Farmer Tom rolled into school yesterday with his amazing tractor... and what a day it was! The students were buzzing with excitement as they climbed aboard. A huge thank you to Tom for bringing a bit of the countryside right to our playground Judging by all the smiling faces, we think it's safe to say everyone had a TRACTORtastic time!

WE'RE HIRING TEACHING ASSISTANTS! Our wonderful school is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistants who are passionate about helping students learn, grow, and achieve their goals. If you enjoy supporting communication, developing learning skills, adapting activities, and celebrating progress every day, you'll fit right in! Come and join a team that values creativity, patience, and meaningful education.

Learning in Action! Yesterday our school was visited by a bin lorry, and what an amazing handson learning experience it turned out to be! The students explored the lorry inside and out, sitting in the driver's seat, discovering how the controls work, and asking brilliant questions about what happens to our waste after it leaves our bins. We learned all about: Recycling - what can go in which bin, and why sorting our waste properly makes such a big difference. Sustainability - how small everyday choices help protect our environment. Waste management - where rubbish goes, how materials get reused, and why reducing waste matters. A huge thank you to the waste collection team for inspiring us and helping our students understand how we can all play a part in looking after our planet. Real-world learning at its best!
